Ending the Academic Year with Gratitude

May 18, 2022

Congratulations, Class of 2022!  You made it!  As this academic year comes to a close, I have to send my gratitude to our entire Saint Mary’s College community for the support and dedication to overcoming challenges and creating a sense of belonging for all Gaels.  I am so proud of the individual and team efforts of our students, faculty, and staff to respond to adversity, push through exhaustion and send my appreciation for continued diligence in our Covid safety protocols & testing requirements.

To say this year was challenging is an understatement. We each had our own way of adjusting to in-person interactions and had to relearn how to work together. For this, I say thank you.

I want to say a special thank you to all who have met with me during my office hours, through the Student Advisory Board, in Student Leader Connect sessions, stopped me in the arcade to say hi, offered, played with Bruno in the quad, and have invited me to countless events on campus. Your guidance, support, honesty, and candor have made my onboarding experience so smooth and I am indebted to you for helping SMC become my home. You have made my first year at the college incredible and I am so proud to be a Gael.

While the next few months provide a sense of calmness to campus, the Division of Student life is preparing for the 2022-2023 year. Our goal is to continue to enhance your SMC Experience by providing support, programs, and resources that promote student success.

I invite you to celebrate with your fellow classmates during graduation weekend and congratulate each other for their perseverance and deep affinity to SMC.

With my deepest gratitude and appreciation,

Anthony
