      • Spring 2021 Application HERE!

      • Fall 2021 Early Action Application HERE!

      • Fall 2021 Regular Decision Application HERE!

  • Have your official high school transcript sent to Saint Mary's.

  • Saint Mary’s College of California will not require an SAT or ACT score for those applying for college admission for spring 2021 or fall 2021 due to test cancellations. However, if you were able to take the test and feel that your scores reflect your academic ability, you are welcome to send them in for consideration using the SAT school code 004675 and the ACT school code 0386.

  • Have your letter of recommendation sent to Saint Mary's.

    • One letter of recommendation is required from your counselor or a teacher with whom you have taken one of the required core classes. We advise giving your counselor or teacher ample time to submit the letter of recommendation by the postmark deadline. The letter may be written on a separate piece of paper or directly on the evaluation form provided by the Common Application.

  • Around this time you are welcome to schedule an interview with your Admissions Counselor, even though it is completely optional.

2021 Test-Optional Policy Update:

Due to the recent test cancellations and closed test centers for both the College Board and ACT, Inc., Saint Mary’s College of California will not require an SAT or ACT score for those applying for college admission for spring 2021 or fall 2021. Any previous GPA requirements for test-optional eligibility will be waived.  In addition, test scores will not be required for advising and placement purposes for those who decide to enroll at Saint Mary's for 2021.

Students who have already taken an SAT or ACT test and feel that their test scores enhance their admissions application may still submit scores but are not required to so. All students who apply with or without test scores will be reviewed holistically, and be evaluated equally for admission and merit scholarships.

Evaluating Your Application:

The chief qualities sought in a candidate are intellectual preparation, the seriousness of purpose, and moral integrity. The school record is considered the most reliable measure of potential college ability. However, extra-curricular accomplishments may strengthen an application insofar as they indicate special talents, perseverance, and maturity.

Applications for admission are reviewed on an individual basis, and minor deficiencies in preparation may be waived if justified by superior marks, test scores, and recommendation.

All successful applicants are expected to complete at least 16 units of secondary school course work that will include the following:

  • 4 years of English

  • 3 years of Mathematics (algebra, advanced algebra or the equivalent, and geometry)*

  • 2 years of the same foreign language

  • 2 years of science (at least one laboratory) *

  • 2 years of social studies (at least 1 year of U.S. history)

*Students who plan to major in a science or mathematics are expected to show particular strength in their scientific and mathematical preparation.
