Weekend of Welcome 2022 will take place August 25-28. Fall classes begin on Monday, August 29.
Your guides for Weekend of Welcome are Student Leaders (WoWies), who will answer your questions, give advice and show you around!
After move-in day, you, as a new student, get to take part in Weekend of Welcome—you'll participate in activities that focus on coursework, programs that complement the curriculum, and activities that will help you get acquainted with your new home.

1-3pm - New Student Move-In*, Residence Halls
5-7pm - Dinner, Oliver Hall
7pm - WoWie Game Night, Dryden Hall
*Limited to students registered to attend New Student Orientation on Aug. 24.

1pm - Men's Soccer v. Niagara University, SMC Stadium
1-3pm - Relax & Unwind, Ferroggiaro Quad
You're all moved in...now what?!?! You can relax and unwind with other new students and families in Ferroggiaro Quad. You can check out the bookstore, enjoy some free Italian ice and listen to some music or just hang out!
3-4pm - Student Life Meet & Greet*, Dryden Hall and 1928 Pub
Student Life and the University Credit Union welcome invite students and families are invited to mix and mingle with campus administrators, University Credit Union staff and each other. Light refreshments will be served; alcohol available for purchase (must be 21 to purchase)
4:30pm - Welcome Blessing*, SMC Chapel
The Mission and Ministry Center and the Office of Mission welcome new students and their family members, from all faith traditions and worldviews, to join us for a special prayer service and blessing. In this celebration, we will share with you the Lasallian Core Principles—some of our most important values that form us, bind us together, and shape all that we do here at Saint Mary's College, and across the globe.
5pm - Farewell BBQ*, Chapel Lawn
Families and students are invited to join the Saint Mary's community for a traditional BBQ on Chapel Lawn. Families will be asked to depart after the BBQ.
7pm - Meet Your WoWie
Your Weekend of Welcome Leader is a returning student that will guide you through the weekend's activities and serve as a resource to you. Your WoW group number will be available on the door of your residence hall room. Be sure to that number with you to the Farewell BBQ!
8pm - First Year Throwdown, Soda Center
Join your fellow new students in being welcomed to the Gael Community! Compete with your residence hall to show who has the most school spirit & and get ready for a fun and engaging throwdown!
9pm - Campus Activities Board (CAB) Late Night, Oliver Hall
*Open to Parents and Families
8:30-9:45am - Breakfast with Your WoW Group, Oliver Hall
10am - First Hall Meeting and Roommate Agreements, various locations
You will have the opportunity to get to know your new hallmates and set guidelines and expectations.
11:30am-12:45pm - Lunch with Your WoW Group, Oliver Hall
1pm - New Student Convocation, Soda Center
New Student Convocation is your official welcome to the Saint Mary's academic community. This campus tradition features welcome addresses from College leaders.
2pm - First Year Advising Cohort Meeting, Various Classrooms
This is your first official class at Saint Mary's! During this meeting, you will be introduced to your academic advisor, peer mentor and success coach. If you need to make changes to your course schedule, you will have the opportunity to discuss those changes with your academic advisor.
4pm - Living in Community, Soda Center
5-7pm - Dinner, Oliver Hall
8pm - RHA Soiree
Get ready to kick back and enjoy a night filled with music, food, games, and socializing with the Class of 2026!

10am-1pm - Transfer Student Move-In, Marjorie David Ageno Hall
11am - Yes! Yes! Yes! Coming to Terms with Consent and Preventing Sexual Violence with Jeff Bucholz - Yes! Yes! Yes! uses humor, audience interaction, popular culture analysis, and performance to take a critical look at the ways in which our culture facilitates sexual violence. Participants will explore ideas about healthy sex, obtaining consent, and the role popular culture plays in promoting unhealthy ideas about sex and consent.
12:30-2pm - Lunch
1-4pm - Campus Rec Pool Party, Joesph L. Alioto Recreation Center
Cool off at this annual event which features contests, games and more!
4:30pm - Paint the SMC, Meet on De La Salle Lawn
Many have left their mark on the SMC on the hill during this campus tradition. Get ready to get messy...there are no paint brushes!
5-7pm - Dinner, Oliver Hall
8pm - WoW Carnival, De La Salle Lawn
The WoW Carnival is a signature campus event hosted by the WoWies. The event features carnival games, food and prizes. You don't want to miss it!
7:30-10:30am - Brunch
10-5pm - Bay Area Trips*
Explore different Bay Area locations with Weekend of Welcome Leaders and learn how to utilize Bay Area public transporation. BART tickets included but participants are responsible for any off campus purchases.
*Participants must sign up in advance. Opportunities to sign up will be available throughout the weekend.
10-2pm - Adventure SMC
You can pop into any of these events to check out all the different adventures SMC has to offer! You can sign up in advance here or just show up!
11am - Sunday Liturgy, Saint Mary's Chapel
1pm - Men's Soccer v. Northern Illinois, SMC Stadium
5-7pm - Welcome Back BBQ, De La Salle Lawn
During this campus tradition, you will get the opportunity to meet returning students and learn more about opportunities available to participate in Club Sports.
