Nuestra facultad y personal están dedicados a sus estudiantes, apoyándolos desde el momento que envían su solicitud hasta el día de su graduación. Para SMC es un honor tener la designación HSI - ser una institución en la cual casi el 25% de estudiantes son de herencia mexicana, latina, o latinoamericana. Desde el 2015, además de admitir a más estudiantes Latinos, nos hemos enfocado en mejorar la experiencia de la comunidad Latina, invirtiendo recursos en programas e iniciativas para facilitar el éxito de nuestros estudiantes y apoyarlos para convertirse en líderes de sus comunidades como profesionales. Esto incluye tanto a los estudiantes de primer año y como a aquellos que se transfieren de un colegio de la comunidad u o de otra universidad. Saint Mary’s College of California is proud to be a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI).
Saint Mary's was designated a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) in 2015. An HSI is defined in part as an institution that has an enrollment of undergraduate full-time equivalent students that is at least 25 percent Hispanic/Latinx students.
This HSI designation shows that we are committed to a diverse student body, but it also has tangible benefits as it provides a variety of grant and funding opportunities for our students and faculty. The HSI status aligns seamlessly with the College's Lasallian core principles, emphasizing the transformative power of education, where the HSI designation becomes a manifestation of the inclusive spirit of the Lasallian tradition.

Virtual Cafecito: Advancing California’s Private HSIs
On behalf of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), I am pleased to invite you to participate in our upcoming Virtual Cafecito: Advancing California’s Private HSIs, taking place on May 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. Pacific via Zoom. This convening is being held in partnership with Saint Mary’s College of California and is designed to bring together leaders from California’s private and independent Hispanic-Serving Institutions.
