About
The SMC Library has a new special collection! Come for the ribbon cutting for the Brother Camillus Chavez Collection on Wednesday, November 1 at 1:30pm on the 2nd floor of the library. This collection is named in honor of Brother Camillus, who was a key presence on the campus and shaped and influenced the lives of many generations of students at SMC. Brother Camillus led meditation sessions, taught courses in Psychology, and advocated for students of color.
The collection consists of Spanish-language materials including popular novels, children’s books, books by undocumented populations, and non-fiction that is emblematic of the diverse experience of Latin American and US Latino communities. This collection is an initiative by the Institute for Latino and Latin American Studies (ILaLS), with additional support from SMC Mission and Ministry and the Department of Psychology.
