eBay, Inc. President Meg Whitman Addresses SEED Graduates

Nearly 250 graduates of Saint Mary's College School of Extended Education received their degrees at a commencement ceremony on Aug. 6, 2005. The SEED programs represented by the graduates included M.A. in Leadership, Paralegal Certificate, B.A. in Law Studies, B.A. in Performing Arts, and B.A. in Management.

The commencement address was given by Meg Whitman, president and CEO of eBay, Inc. The following is an excerpt of her speech to the SEED graduates:

What a great group! You should all feel very, very proud of what you've accomplished. I know it wasn't easy. Most of you earned your degrees while working one or more jobs. For some of you, many years had passed since you had set foot in a classroom, and hitting the books again was more than a little daunting.

I deeply admire all of you for your amazing determination and dogged perseverance. Getting here today was no small feat. You faced challenges that not everyone could overcome. Congratulations to you all!
