Politics major Ashley Sugar attends Turning Point USA's Young Women's Leadership Summit
In June, 2017, Politics major Ashley Sugar attended Turning Point USA’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit in Dallas, Texas. Ashley wites: “This summit was one of the most amazing experiences of my college career so far. I witnessed speeches from women who have transcended in areas such as politics, law, and business. Most notable was Carly Fiorina. Her story particularly resonated with me due to starting as secretary and then ending as CEO of Hewlett- Packard. Women today are underrepresented in politics and law, the two fields I hope to enter. This summit taught me how to excel as a leader and how to obtain my goals. Attending this summit took my political education out of the classroom and into the real world. Having this experience has fueled my fire to be another voice for women in both politics and law, which is lacking in women representation. All of this valuable experience would not have been possible without the Politics department, and I believe here on campus they are department who strives to help students realize their dreams. Thank you again for everything!”
