Welcome Dr. Jase Teoh!

September 21, 2016

We are pleased in IT Services to welcome to our community Jase Teoh, EdD as Director, Educational Technology!  In this position, Jase will oversee development of classroom and online teaching and learning technology, with an eye on both innovation and digital literacy among our faculty.

Jase comes to us from the SUNY system where she led numerous EdTech initiatives over the last six years, most notably in support of hybrid and online pedagogy.  She spent a considerable amount of her educational years in the Midwest, most notably at Saint Mary's University in Winona, MN.  It is in the spirit of the LaSallian tradition as well as the essence of who she is: to provide a person-centered educational experience grounded in excellent teaching and student learning and to help the individual learner realize and achieve their potential in a trusting and respectful environment.  She holds an EdD in Curriculum & Instruction from Illinois State University, an MA in Counseling from Saint Mary's University and a BA in Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa.

Jase will be hosting a lunch for faculty interested in sharing their thoughts and intent for the use of educational technology in and around SMC classrooms.  Please join her in the Dining Lounge on Wednesday, October 5, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

For some background, the Director, Educational Technology position displaces the Director, Client Services, a position which has been left vacant since 2013 so that the salary dollars could be used in an effort to hasten the infrastructure fitness program we have been working on for the past four years.  Alongside the aforementioned position summary, this revised position is critical in support of the College's emerging Ed Tech mission, and represents a big step toward clarity with respect to classroom and hybrid technology service and support.

Thanks to all in the community who provided time for review and input in the search process that was completed in late spring 2016.  A special thank you to professors Larisa Genin, Ed Tywoniak, Hoang Vu and Marguerite Welch for their willingness to give up valuable time as members of the faculty search team.
