Post Office
ATTENTION FALL/25 RESIDENT STUDENTS!
The SMC Post Office
The SMC Post Office is located between the bookstore and Syufy Hall for the Performing Arts. Services at the campus Post Office include sale of stamps, metering of outgoing packages, and plain envelopes. Hours of operation for these services are Monday through Friday, 10:00AM – 4:00PM, Saturday 11AM – 3PM. There is 24 hour a day, 7 day a week access to PMB boxes, an outgoing mailbox, and an Alana locker location for Amazon packages.
PMB boxes are assigned to all undergraduate resident students of Saint Mary’s College.
If a student does not want a PMB Box it is the responsibility of the Student to contact SMC Post Office in person and close the Box.
Getting your mail: Undergraduate resident students will receive an on-campus SMC Post Office box number and key within the first week of fall move-in. As long as all proper procedures are followed, a student mailbox number should stay the same for the entire time they live on campus. Mail sent to resident students should be addressed as follows:
Student Name Only
1928 Saint Mary’s Road
PMB xxxx
Moraga, CA 94575
PMB key: Whenever you wish to check your mail, remember to bring your PMB key. If you lose your key, see the SMC post office during their business hours, and bring photo ID. Please keep in mind that there is a $25.00 charge for lost or misplaced keys.
Checking your mail: As long as you live on campus, you are responsible to check your PMB box. It is important that you check your mail regularly, especially if you are subscribing to publications such as the Wall Street Journal or other daily or weekly periodicals.
Moving Off Campus: When a student moves off campus, their PMB box will be closed. All mail will be returned to sender. The deadline for proper closure of student PMB Boxes is May31st, after which a late fee will be charged.
Study Abroad Students: Students may keep their PMB box assignment and key while studying abroad only if all of the following criteria are met.
they live on campus the term before they go abroad, and will be living on campus when they return
their abroad program is through SMC (with abroad room & board assigned through the College)
Notifications in Your PMB box: PMB box holders may sometimes receive notification that they’ve received a parcel to be picked up in the Post Office during their business hours. This is usually a small, bright colored piece of paper, and sometimes requires a signature pick-up. Please remember to pick up these packages in a timely manner and bring photo ID. PMB box holders may also sometimes receive packages that are too big to fit in for their boxes, in which case a tagged key will be placed in your box, which will note the box number for you to open and obtain your package, available 24 hours a day. If you receive mail that does not belong to you, the campus post office invites you to simply push it though the box – they will find it on the floor and place it in the correct box.
Troubleshooting: For general problems with your PMB box, begin with visiting the campus Post Office during their business hours. Please keep in mind that most PMB box troubleshooting issues take 5 business days to resolve. Any issues having to do with your PMB box that are beyond the scope or ability of the Post Office will most likely need to be directed to John Palmieri II, Director of Central Services, who oversees campus Post Office issues, at (925) 631-4882.
Package Deliveries
The Post Office will if able to put incoming parcels directly into your PMB. If however the package is to large to fit into your box, we will either put a slip into your box telling you to come into the Post Office to retrieve your package, or a parcel locker key.
Parcel Lockers: We will be utilizing the Parcel Lockers located in the Post Office general area. In an effort to reduce the traffic in and out of the Post Office we will be putting as many packages into Parcel Lockers as possible on a daily basis. Incoming packages will be put into a parcel locker and the key to the locker will be placed into your PMB Box. You will have 5 days to retrieve the package. If you do not retrieve the package in 5 days, it will be returned to sender.
Amazon orders (Alana Lockers): The Post Office recommends that if you OR your parents are ordering from Amazon that they utilize the Amazon Parcel lockers on campus. They can find the Amazon lockers (called Alana) under alternate shipping address for the zip code 94575.
