MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

Students pursuing the Performing Arts Degree with an emphasis in Dance must complete the required lower and upper division courses as set forth below.

Prior dance experience is helpful, but not necessary.

DANCE: CHOREOGRAPHY AND PERFORMANCE

  • Perfa 72/75/76/175/176  Dance Technique (.25 x 14)
  • Perfa 80 Dance Science and lab
  • Perfa 90 Choreography I and Lab (.50 x 2)
  • Perfa 180/180L Laban and Bartenieff Movement Studies and Lab
  • Perfa 181 Asian Dance in the Contemporary World
  • Perfa 182 Dance History I
  • Perfa 183 Dance History II
  • Perfa 184 Dance in Performance
  • Perfa 185 Dance Pedagogy
  • Perfa 190 Choreography II/III (.25 x 2)
  • Perfa 192/194 Rehearsal or Dance Production (performance or crew every semester)
  • Perfa 198 Senior Project (must be in choreography and performance)
  • Perfa 144 Design for Dance (.25 recommended)
  • Perfa 143 Production Management for Dance (.25 recommended)
