Sixto F. Montesinos

Dr. Sixto F. Montesinos is a prominent musician and educator, widely recognized for his role as a conductor in various music genres. Notable projects in his career include conducting the Youth Musical Theater Company of the Bay Area's productions of "Sweeney Todd" and "Sunday in the Park with George." He also conducted the Bay Area premiere of "Curzar la Cara de laLuna" with the West Edge Opera Company in 2023.

In November 2023, Dr. Montesinos is scheduled to make his conducting debut with the Sonora Philharmonic in Hermosillo, Mexico. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Houston, a Master's Degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Wind Conducting from Rutgers University.

Dr. Montesinos has diverse research interests, including the exploration of Mexican musical traditions, 18th-century music, wind music during the Age of Enlightenment, and the historical connections between music, the Hapsburg Empire, and the era of Marie Antoinette.
