Saint Mary’s College’s first Oasis Music Festival was held on May 2. This event was a collaboration between the Campus Activities Board (CAB), the college radio station, KSMC, and Student Activities & Engagement. Hosted on the De La Salle Lawn, three bands from California’s major music hubs, San Francisco and Los Angeles, brought groovy music and good vibes to students and community members alike. Attending Gaels enjoyed acai bowls from Bowl’d Acai, as well as dumplings and rice bowls from Wokitchen. Students also savored treats from Bay Area vendors including The Scoop Lafayette, Jude’s Baker, Bay Area Munchiez, and Teaspy on Clouds.

The event was created from a shared dream of bringing live music back to campus. Many members of the Saint Mary’s community expressed interest in more weekend activities and opportunities for students to have fun without leaving the SMC bubble. CAB and KSMC teamed up with support from GaelMedia and funding from the Student Enhancement Fee to make this dream a reality.

Student DJ Blake A. kept the crowd energized with stellar sets throughout the night. LA-based pop artist Peyton Shay brought infectious pop-rock energy, while indie rock band Indigo Elephant led the way with alternative originals. The headliner, Spiritual Cramp, did not disappoint. Students rocked out, cheered, and moshed alongside the punk/new wave band throughout the set.

Students left the event uplifted and enthusiastic about the possibility of Oasis becoming a new campus tradition. With activities like spikeball, flower crown making, temporary tattoos, and spray-paint T-shirt designing, there truly was something for everyone. One Gael exclaimed, “This was everything that I enjoy — live music, crafts, food, and sweet treats.” Another stated, “I didn’t expect OASIS to turn out to be such a fun and exciting event.”

Many Gaels who were initially drawn in by the loud music, laser effects, and free food stayed for the sense of community and new connections. With the next Oasis festival already in the works for the first week of the Fall 2026 semester, one thing is certain: Oasis has already made its mark on the Saint Mary’s community.

This event was sponsored by the Student Enhancement Fee.
