This minor emphasizes data-driven research and scientific fundamentals. Our program will provide you with a broad understanding of our ecosystems and the effects of human society.

 You’ll hone your ability to reason through unfamiliar problems, the tools to investigate topics in-depth, and the communication skills needed to share information with others. With our small class sizes and the mentorship of our renowned faculty, you can make lasting connections in a tight-knit community of difference-makers.

An Environmental Sciences Minor pairs well with other Science degrees. You will graduate from our program well-equipped for a career in research, activism, education, public policy, and beyond.

Lower Division

Choose two of the following Lower Division courses AND its corresponding lab

  • Protecting Biodiversity (4 units)

Upper Division

Choose 4 classes from the list of classes allowable for the major - at least 3 of which must not overlap with courses taken for the student's major. The specific upper-division courses selected for the minor must be arranged between the student and their advisor and be approved by the chairs of all departments involved. Many of these courses require prerequisites that are not required for the Environmental Science Minor.
