Art Preservation and Collections Care Minor

Art Preservation and Collections Care Minor

This unique minor introduces students to art preservation and the care of artifacts within collections, combining liberal arts and scientific approaches to address preservation challenges. By providing direct access to the physical artwork and teaching best practices in handling, caring and conserving, the curriculum prepares students for roles in museums, galleries, and collections. Next to a core set of courses focused on art preservation, students can choose electives in art history, archaeology, history and studio art, along with internships at the Saint Mary’s Museum, and portfolio development throughout the program. The curriculum aims at enhancing practical experience, crucial for pursuing graduate studies and securing employment, and at enriching the main major degree of choice, providing students with highly competitive qualifications.
