Student Media Center
Saint Mary's new Student Media Center provides access to a wide range of resources and technologies essential for academic success and creative exploration. Equipped with high-performance computers, video and audio editing software, and a sound recording studio, the media center enables students to produce high-quality projects. It also serves as an environment where students can work collaboratively, receive technical support, and participate in workshops that enhance digital literacy and communication skills. Ultimately, a media center empowers students to engage more deeply with their coursework while developing practical skills that are vital in today’s digital world.
Sound Studio
Podcasting
The Sound Studio provides students, faculty and staff the opportunity to record audio and video podcasts for personal dissemination and class assignments. The studio includes a sound-proofed space with professional microphones and sound editing software. The Sound Studio can be reserved here.
Sound Design
Audio and video projects can be edited with a sound mixer, professional software and speakers.
Music Recording
The studio also functions as a recording space for instrumental and vocal recordings.

Film Screenings
With a new 16-foot screen, 4k projector, sound paneling and blackout curtains for windows, Sichel 104 offers a compelling theatrical viewing experience. The room can host up to thirty six students for screenings.
Photo/Video Backdrop
A 9-foot wide hanging backdrop gives photographers and videographers a broad canvas to shoot against. The backdrop has white, black, and green-screen colors to choose from.
Modular Environment
With rolling desk chairs that can easily be stacked, and equipment cabinets containing lighting equipment, the studio offers students, staff and faculty to flexibility and resources for all manner of video productions.
Screening Room
Film Viewing and Watch Parties
The screening room offers a 100" flat-screen LED television and comfortable couches, and can host up to fifteen students for modest student club screenings.
Work in Progress Presentations
Easy laptop connection allows students to share in-progress media work with classmates, instructors and campus clients.
Editing Stations
The screening room space also has two new iMac editing stations with the entire Adobe Creative Cloud Suite available to students at work on media projects.
Media Club Lounge
Club Meetings
The lounge hosts regular meetings for campus media clubs, including the KSMC radio station, the Collegian newspaper, the Film Club, and the Bay Area Student Shorts Film Festival.
Third Space
The lounge is also open to students looking for a "third space" (i.e. a space that is not the classroom or the dorm room) for study groups, doing homework, and hanging out before/after class. It includes a printer, a mini-fridge, a couch, as well as plants and light!
