Internships

Kinesiology students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in their chosen track — Sport Management, Health Promotion, or Exercise Science — through internships completed on campus in the College's Department of Athletics and Recreational Sports, or with outside organizations across the Bay Area and beyond.

Sport Management students have recently interned with SMC Athletics and Club Sports in roles spanning event operations, communications, marketing, branding, and team management, as well as with local organizations such as Campolindo High School Athletics, The Ultimate Field House, and The Dream Center. Past students have also held internships with professional franchises such as the San Francisco Forty-Niners, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, and Oakland Athletics.

Exercise Science students have gained applied and clinical experience through internships such as an athletic training role with SMC Athletics, an adaptive coaching internship with ANTS Sports, and a physical therapy aide position with Tice Valley Physical Therapy, in addition to research and testing experience in the department's own Human Performance Lab.

Health Promotion students have completed internships including a pediatric occupational therapy aide role with A Hop, Skip, and A Jump Ahead, a youth sports coaching role with America SCORES Bay Area at Glenview Elementary, motor development programming with Pediatric Motor Playground, and youth instruction with Mr. Peter's Golf Camp.
