- In keeping with a long tradition dating from the founding of European universities during the Middle Ages, Saint Mary's College celebrates the Mass of the Holy Spirit. All are encouraged to join in this special liturgy to bless our entire community at the beginning of another academic year together. Grounded in our Lasallian Core Principles, especially our theme of "Inclusive Community," this is a liturgy invoking the Holy Spirit to guide our learning and living throughout the Academic Year. - The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is a yearly cohort-model program for Saint Mary's College community members are: Seeking to become a Roman Catholic Christian, or Baptized Roman Catholic but have not made their First Communion and/or Confirmation, or are a fully initiated Roman Catholic and wish to discuss, share, and enrich your faith life. OCIA classes will be held in person in the evenings starting in late September and continuing through April, which is when the Mass of Initiation will be held for all those being Baptized, receiving First Communion, or being Confirmed.
- The commitment consists of OCIA class one evening a week, and attendance at the Sunday 8pm student-led liturgies. Those who register by September 13 will be consulted about which evening/s of the week work best for their schedule for OCIA class. - Cut, Paste, Behold: A Retreat on Faith & Creative Practice | 10 AM - 4:30 PM | SMC Museum of Art and Mission & Ministry Center
- This retreat is an immersive, day-long retreat that invites Saint Mary’s College students into a deeper engagement with faith in public life through art, contemplation, and creative practice. The creative practice will be zine-making where each student will create an eight-page mini magazine, engaging creativity as a spiritual practice as inspired by the work of artist Sister Corita Kent: cutting, assembling, writing, and intentionally imagining the intersection of faith and justice.
- This retreat experience is an opportunity for students to use their hands, tap into their creative side, unplug from technology and the academic grind, be in intentional community, and reflect and engage deeply upon the connection between art, crafting, creativity, community, and faith.
