Create an Authorized User Profile

Saint Mary’s College bills exclusively online through an eBilling process. The eBill goes to the student ONLY. The student is notified of the bill by way of an email to his/her SMC email account. Students are able to create profiles for authorized users so that others may receive notice and view the bill or make payments online. Authorized users are parents, spouses, employers, etc. who are given access by the student to view the student’s account.

We strongly encourage all students to set up profiles for their parents. In order to create an authorized user profile, the student must log into his/her GaelXpress account, click on Student Account Center, then click on Authorized Users. Once you provide the authorized user's email, they will receive instructions to log in with a temporary password and will be able to view bills and make payments- all online!

Students view bills and make payments by going to their GaelXpress account. Authorized Users view bills and make payments by going to the Saint Mary's College - CA Student Account Suite hosted by TouchNet.

Enroll in the Payment Plan

If you are a full-time undergraduate student and you plan to enroll in  the payment plan for fall, you must do so by August 1, 2020. There is a 5 month payment plan available with installments running from June 15-October 15 or a 4 month payment plan from July 15-October 15 for a set up fee of $75 per semester. This is a voluntary plan. Enrollment for the spring semester payment plan will begin late October with installments running from November 15 through March 15. All of this can be done from the Student Account Center by students and/or a designated link for Authorized Users.  Refunds resulting from financial aid proceeds will only be issued if the financial aid is in excess of all charges (including the payment plan budgeted amount).

If you are a graduate student, doctoral student, credential student, or a professional undergraduate student (such as Leap or Balos), you may enroll in our 3-month payment plan. The payment plan fee is $50 per term. Log in to your GaelXPress and go to the Student Account Center to enroll.

***Refunds resulting from overpayments or financial aid will NOT be issued until the entire semester's payment plan is paid, in full***

Complete the Authorization to Release Information Form

Your records at SMC are protected from unauthorized release under the Federal Family Education Rights and Privacy Act. SMC staff members are prohibited, by law, from giving out specific information regarding student accounts, financial aid, registration, grades, health/wellness and housing to anyone, including your parents, unless you submit the Authorization to Release Information Form to the Office of the Registrar. The Office of the Registrar may be reached at regoff@stmarys-ca.edu or (925) 631-4214.

Clear any Outstanding Holds

Go to your GaelXpress account and click on ‘My Holds and Approvals’ to review your holds. A hold will prevent registration into classes, deposits for housing or travel, and other services.  All students (undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, credential, and professional) must be cleared of all holds prior to registering for future courses.

Waive Health Insurance

Full-time undergraduate students are automatically enrolled and billed for the school-sponsored medical insurance through Anthem Blue Cross unless proof of comparable insurance is submitted by the deadline of August 18, 2020.

Every year, if you have comparable coverage, you must file a waiver with Saint Mary's College. This year, we have partnered with JCB Insurance Solutions (coverage is still provided by Anthem Blue Cross), Please waive by going to www.jcbins.com. Enter Saint Mary's College of California as your school and choose plan year 2020-2021.  The first time you log in you will have to create an account with your email, your 7-digit SMC id number, and your date of birth.   Once you have completed the waiver and receive confirmation, Saint Mary's will credit your account for the premium. This will occur in 5 business days. The waiver must be completed on or before AUGUST 18, 2020. If you waive prior to receiving your opening eBill in early July, you will not see the charge on your bill at all! If you waive after you receive your opening eBill, the charge will be reversed up until August 18, 2020. No waivers will be accepted after August 18th. Students must meet certain criteria in order to waive the SMC insurance.

For questions regarding your waiver, please call (925) 377-6225 or email StudentServices@jcbins.com

PLEASE NOTE: The waiver opportunity will shut down on August 18, 2020. If you have NOT completed the waiver by August 18th, you will be insured for the FULL academic year with no other chance to waive. Once a student is enrolled, there are NO premium refunds. The cost of the annual medical insurance policy for 2020-2021 is $3,597 ($1,798.50 each term).  The entire amount of $3,597 will be billed to your student account. A charge of $1,798.50 will be on your fall bill and a charge of $1,798.50 will be on your spring bill. No refunds will be made after the closure of the waiver process. If you withdraw OR file a leave of absence after the add/drop deadline or if you cease attending classes without having waived the insurance by the deadline, the insurance coverage will continue to the end of the semester regardless of whether you are enrolled in classes. You will be liable for the medical insurance fee.

ATTENTION: International students and U.S. citizens whose primary residence is abroad will NOT be able to waive the school insurance. Mandatory enrollment is required if your permanent address is abroad. Graduate and professional students are NOT eligible for the insurance plan unless they are international students. All international students (graduate and/or undergraduate) and U.S. citizens whose primary residence is abroad are REQUIRED to enroll in the College sponsored plan and should visit the Center for International Programs for additional information at (925) 631-4245.
