We are easily reachable by freeway, public transit, and train and are a short distance from two major metropolitan airports. The drive to campus offers beautiful scenery and a relaxing appeal to nature.

Driving

From the San Francisco Bay Bridge or the San Rafael/Richmond Bridge

To reach the destination, take Highway 580 toward Hayward, then switch to Highway 24 toward Walnut Creek. After passing through the Caldecott Tunnel, take the second exit marked for Orinda/Moraga. Turn right and continue on Moraga Way for about five miles. Next, turn left onto Moraga Road, then make a right onto Saint Mary's Road. The college will be approximately one mile ahead on your right.

From Walnut Creek/Highway 680

To reach your destination, take Highway 24 west toward Oakland. Exit at Central Lafayette and bear right, circling under the highway. At the second stoplight, turn right onto Mt. Diablo Boulevard. At the next stoplight, turn left onto Moraga Road and stay in the left lane. Then, make a left onto Saint Mary's Road. Follow this road for about four miles, and you will find the College on your left.

Parking

Visitors are advised to park in the Filippi Lot Extension, the Recreation Center lot, or the Upper Soda lot. Please note that parking restrictions are enforced daily from 5 AM to 10 PM. Vehicles without permits or parked in the wrong lot may be cited and towed.

How to buy a Visitor Parking Pass

Parking pay stations are available in the Filippi Lot Extension, Recreation Center Lot, Pat Vincent, and Upper Soda Lot. The fee is $0.50 per hour, with a maximum of $5 for the day. These machines accept both credit and debit cards.

Staff or faculty can reserve parking for events/guest speakers  here.

Public Transportation

 BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) subway stations—Orinda and Lafayette—connect to the bus lines operated by County Connection, the regional public transportation provider in the area where Saint Mary's College (SMC) is located. To reach the campus, you can take Route 6, which services Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda. The bus makes regularly scheduled stops right in front of the college.

 

Additionally, Caltrain runs routes between downtown San Francisco and San Jose, passing through several cities on the Peninsula. It also provides service to Millbrae, where you can connect to BART to travel to San Francisco International Airport and Saint Mary's College.

Shuttle Services

Several private shuttle services are available from San Francisco International Airport and Oakland International Airport. It is advisable to book your ground transportation before you arrive at the airport. Below is a list of companies that offer this direct service. Prices may vary, and booking a round-trip may be more economical than purchasing two one-way tickets.

Air Travel

If you are flying into the San Francisco Bay Area, we recommend Oakland International Airport, about 40 minutes from the Moraga campus.
