  • Graduate and Professional Studies 2020–2021: Sunday, May 23

Commencement Registration

CARmencement registration is now closed and at full capacity.

Graduates should plan to arrive 20-30 minutes before their pre-scheduled time slot to allow plenty of time to get your registration card and file into the correct queue. Your registration card is what you will take to the stage to hand to the announcer.

Please note the entrance is closest to Rheem Blvd and not Saint Mary’s Parkway (see map below). Keep in mind that traffic may be slower than normal so please plan for traffic delays in the area.

ID & Registration Confirmation
Please show us a copy of your confirmation when you arrive on campus. Click here if you need to quickly find your CARmencement confirmation details (date and time).

Please wear your mask during check-in. Our volunteers will be wearing masks as well to ensure everyone’s health and safety. We are not requiring masks for anyone inside a car or when you are on stage for a photograph.

The parade-like celebration route of CARmencement will begin at the entrance to the College near the Chapel Lawn and follow De La Salle Drive around the campus. In front of the chapel lawn, students will have the chance to exit their vehicle to walk across the stage and have their photo taken with their diploma cover. Aside from using the restroom facilities, participants must remain in their vehicle at all times.

Only one vehicle per family can participate in the CARmencement. Guests from the same household unit may join a graduate in their one vehicle. We are not allowing buses, floats, party trolleys, motor homes, or any vehicle exceeding 30 feet in the entrance that day. Convertibles will be allowed, but passengers are encouraged to wear face coverings. Participants are encouraged to decorate their vehicles (while complying with all California laws). All vehicles must be under 11-feet tall and under 30-feet long.

As you approach the stage area in the parade we ask that you turn off your car radios and refrain from honking your horns. We want to ensure that your name, and the names of your classmates, are heard clearly on the live stream.

The graduating student is the ONLY member of the family who can exit the car, walk to the stage, and take an official photograph with the Saint Mary's photographer. Families will not be able to exit their cars and take family photos on campus during Commencement.
