Parking FAQs

Saint Mary's College of California is a private educational institution whose access to parking are regulated pursuant to campus policy.

California Vehicle Code (CVC) 21113 is the law that gives public agencies and educational institutions the authority to regulate and restrict driving, parking, and transit on property under their control. This applies to universities, public schools, airports, hospitals, and transit districts.

Under this overarching code, campuses and facilities can establish highly specific bylaws (such as requiring a permit or prohibiting parking on red curbs or pedestrian walkways). If you are cited for a campus parking ticket, the violation is legally processed as a violation of agency-specific conditions enacted under CVC 21113.
