How does your house/place of worship engage with and serve the broader community?

We build bridges, foster grassroots interfaith peacebuilding efforts and create opportunities for learning and gathering of community in service. We have several committees, including ICARE, ICAN and Singing Messengers.

How would you describe the core values and mission of your house/place of worship?

The Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County facilitates and fosters peacebuilding, respect, and collaboration among people of diverse faith and Indigenous traditions, spiritual expressions, and cultures. We focus on promoting interfaith understanding through community service, dialogue, and supporting freedom of religion and belief. Through the lens of reconciliation and transformation, we work to build bridges and celebrate our common humanity throughout Contra Costa County and the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

How does your house/place of worship engage with and serve the broader community?

Our church is fairly small and we are connected mostly to the neighbors of community we worship in. Some of the member are involved at Cal. Some are involved in local schools, etc.

We welcome all questions and people with doubts. Our belief is that we should bring big, difficult questions to God and let him sort them out. Our community is filled with grace and is a good place to process thinking.

What are some key traditions and rituals that take place in your community? Which are the most popular for your congregation?

We gather on Sundays for worship. Our sermons are based on chapter by chapter reading of scripture and seek to challenge, provoke, and equip the Christian toward love and good works.

We are a church that seeks to know and enjoy Jesus daily and grow in faith together with our brothers and sister in Christ.
