The first thing you’ll want to know about off-campus living is a word that you probably won’t hear anywhere else but right here: Lamorinda.
What does that mean?
It’s a portmanteau word for the three towns that make up our region: Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda. If you wind up renting a room, house or apartment during your time at Saint Mary’s, it’ll probably be in Lamorinda.
There are plenty of residential options in the area, including apartments, rooms in private houses or houses. And we have lots of renting resources available to help you make the most informed decision possible. Before renting, be sure you read our information on pricing, safety tips, and your rights as a tenant. No matter where you decide to settle down, definitely check out our commuter newsletter to stay connected to campus events.
We also partner with an awesome company, CORT, that will help you get connected with off campus housing resources including available listings and furniture rentals.
Even if you’re not living on campus, you’ll still be leading a Saint Mary’s student life.
The Off-Campus Housing List is available to members of the Saint Mary's College Community, including graduate and undergraduate students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
You can pick up the list in person at the Campus Housing Office, or via email. You may also locate the current list on the Brickpile Discussion Board on SMCnet. The list is updated weekly by the Campus Housing Office.

All housing agreements resulting through this posting are strictly between landlord (renter) & tenant. The staff of Saint Mary’s College screens neither party & plays no part in any disputes that may arise. This list is updated on a regular basis. Listings are removed only with landlord instructions or after thirty (30) days.
Also you may visit the Housing Section on the Brickpile Discussion Board (Saint Mary's e-mail username and password will be requested). Here you will find individuals who have a space and are looking for roommates or individuals who need a place to live.
