Green Gaels Student Club

Body

Green Gaels is a student organization dedicated to promoting climate advocacy, environmental justice, and sustainability through education, events, and programming.

We organize and participate in educational talks, outdoor activities and environmental awareness events. Past events include Ecochella, a solar-powered, environmentally conscious concert held on campus, hikes in the East Bay area, lectures, movie viewings and cleanups both on and off campus.

Meet the members of our Executive Team!

Payton Reil: President

Payton Reil is a junior environmental studies major with a minor in politics. Payton has been learning about different routes of sustainability and is passionate about species survival 1. She has held three different roles in the executive team and is excited to be the president for the 2020-21 school year. She is excited to make this be the best year of Green Gaels yet! She likes dogs and listening to music while doing her homework. 

Sophia Warren: Vice President

Sophia Warren is a senior Economics and Sustainability major, minoring in Spanish. She is passionate about opportunities that create a greener world while also making a just world. She is hoping to help her peers more involved in conversations surrounding environmental racism and how we can foster sustainability in any community, as well as offer fun ways to integrate nature into our everyday lives. 

Treanna Ferraro: Secretary

My name is Treana Ferraro and I am going into my Junior year at Saint Marys. I am majoring in Business Administration, but my major is also split with General Psychology. I am very passionate about the environmental health of our globe, spreading awareness, and spreading ideas on how people can alter their habits and live a green lifestyle. 

Samantha Clevenger: Treasurer

Samantha is a sophomore Economics major with a concentration in conservation and sustainability. She previously was the Social Media Coordinator in the club and this is her second year. She is looking forward to supporting the Green Gaels in their growth and meeting new people who share common interests in the environment. 

Grace Clinton: Program Co-Coordinator

Grace Clinton is a third year Politics major, with minors in French and Theatre. This is Grace’s third year with Green Gaels and second year as an executive team member. Grace is excited to step into the role as Programming Coordinator for the 2020-2021 academic year and looks forward to coordinating events and activities that engage the SMC student community in all things green! She is passionate about sustainability and combating climate change in our everyday actions and is excited to do this important work at Saint Mary’s

Brianna Verduzco: Program Co-Coordinator

Brianna Verduzco is a Junior communication major and anthropology minor. This will be her first year on the green gaels executive team and she is very excited to help plan events. She is passionate about sustainability and educating others on better practices for our environment

Maleena Guido: Social Media Chair

Hi everyone! My name is Maleena and I am the Green Gaels Social Media Chair. I am double majoring in Justice, Community, and Leadership as well as Theology and Religious Studies. I love working with children and look forward to becoming a Special Education Teacher. I am passionate about environmental justice and hope to help our campus community learn more about sustainability.
