The Annual Sustainability Report aims to highlight our most notable achievements over the past year and plans for future. 

Our Climate Action Plan details the major goals, projects and initiatives to most effectively and quickly ratchet down our greenhouse gas emissions, while infusing values of justice, equity and inclusivity. 

Sustainability in Academics

Throughout the year, the garden provides a space for faculty to bring coursework outside the traditional classroom, allowing students to learn through observation, exploration, and direct engagement with the land.

Sustainable Energy

Saint Mary's is proud to of its numerous sustainable energy programs to both shift behaviors as well as make changes within our building infrastructure to maximize energy and cost savings.

Saint Mary's College and its food service provider, Gael Dining, are committed to a more sustainable, healthier and equitable agrifood system. Below are some ways we are moving the needle.

Sustainable Move Out

Throughout the end-of-year move out week, the Office of Sustainability in collaboration with EH&S and the Housing Office, collects lightly-used, functional items to donate to local nonprofits in the area and our own Free Store.

Sustainable Purchasing

Sustainable purchasing is the practice of purchasing products and services that reduce environment and human health impacts, as compared to competing products or services with similar functions. Sustainable products benefit the social and ecological wellbeing while often save money in the short or long-term.

Sustainable Transportation

Campus Safety & Transportation and the Office of Sustainability actively work with members of the campus community to implement effective transportation programs to reduce single-occupancy vehicle traffic, enhance the campus sustainability efforts, and improve the commuter parking experience on campus.

Waste Diversion

At Saint Mary’s College, we aim to promote a zero waste culture on campus starting from the first day students arrive to the day they graduate.
