Everybody, a finalist for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize, is a wise and joyful riff on the fifteenth-century morality play Everyman. The action follows Everybody (the lead actor chosen by lottery at each performance) on a journey towards life’s greatest mystery—mortality itself. The Saint Mary’s production will be staged outdoors in the Redwood Grove and timed to unfold from sunset through twilight into darkness. Please dress warmly and bring blankets

Murmurations Dance Concert Fall '21

Saint Mary’s College Dance Company presents Murmurations, a dance performance created by seven senior choreographers from the Class of 2022, with guest artist and alumna Micah Sallid. This collective dance concert shares investigations of various cycles in life, connection, family, returning to self, letting go, healing, and pathways forward. After a year apart, Murmurations is energized by a long-awaited collective assembling and finding momentum beside each other again.

The Music Program at Saint Mary's College will present its fall 2021 instrumental music concert titled "Mystic Embers''. The Saint Mary's Instrumental Ensemble will be conducted by Dr. Sixto F. Montesinos and will feature music for strings, brass, and woodwinds with electroacoustic accompaniment written by Jennifer E. Rose, Steve Bryant, Johan Sebastian Bach and Astor Piazzola. This concert will also feature the swingin' Saint Mary's Jazz Band and Jazz Choir, conducted by Bob Farrington and Dr. Julie Ford. These fantastic musicians will get your feet tapping with an exciting mix of swing, latin, and rock styles from various composers, such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Lee Morgan, and Henry Mancini along with Jazz singers' performances of "Tenor Madness," "That Old Feeling," "Fly Me to the Moon," and "The Simple Life."

"I SING BECAUSE..." Choir Concert

The SMC choirs will embody their gratitude to be singing together again in our winter concert, "I Sing Because..." 

We'll be joined by the Baroque Chamber Ensemble Magnificat to present two glorious choral-orchestral selections by J. S. Bach. Our performance will also include works by Palestrina, Monteverdi, Whitacre, Hugo Alfvén, and the late Moses Hogan, African-American Spiritual aficionado.  Also featured is a poignant setting of Langston Hughes' To Sit and Dream by Rosaphayne Powell, and I Sing Because I'm Happy by Rollo Dilworth. We'll cut loose on Beach Boys and Alanis Morrisette tunes, and will include holiday favorites including a carol sing-along.
