COVID-19 Testing

Testing protocol for SMC Campus Community.

SMC Students

Ongoing Screening Testing

All students with approved exemptions will be required to complete weekly COVID screening testing that will be performed on a schedule set by the College. Students required to participate in screening testing have received an email communication from the Health and Wellness Center that indicates next steps, including scheduling the mandatory test.

Students with COVID-19 Symptoms or Exposure to a Positive COVID-19 Case

Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms or who have been exposed to a positive COVID-19 case can be tested at the Health & Wellness Center during operational clinic hours. Students with COVID-19 symptoms or a community exposure should call the Health & Wellness Center and they will be advised by a clinic nurse. If a residential student tests positive or is a close contact of someone else who tests positive, they will be referred to the Saint Mary’s College Residential Care Team for isolation support and guidance.

Students who have received a positive COVID-19 test result from an off-campus clinic are asked to report this result to the Health and Wellness Center.

SMC Employees

All Employees with approved exemptions will be required to complete weekly COVID screening testing that will be performed on a schedule set by the College. Employees required to participate in screening testing have received an email communication from Human Resources that indicates next steps, including reporting the results of the mandatory test.

All employees should get tested for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, if they develop COVID-19 symptoms or are notified that they have had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. If an employee has any COVID-19 symptoms, or a close contact, they should stay home. If an employee develops symptoms while at work, they should return home and isolate until receiving further guidance from a healthcare provider.
