COVID-19 Testing

Testing protocol for SMC Campus Community.

COVID-19 Testing for SMC Students

The Health and Wellness Center (H&WC) is providing COVID-19 testing for students with COVID-19 symptoms and those who have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Our robust COVID-19 testing strategy also includes regular COVID-19 Screening Testing. For questions, please contact the H&WC at (925) 631-4254 or

Should a student test positive for COVID-19, the College is prepared to respond with rapid contact tracing. For campus residents, dedicated quarantine and isolation spaces and supportive care plans will be provided. While these measures contribute to mitigating the spread of COVID-19, please note that testing does not replace the importance of facial coverings, handwashing and physical distancing in the prevention of COVID-19.

COVID-19 Testing for SMC Employees

Employees should get tested for COVID-19 if they develop COVID-19 symptoms or are notified that they have had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. If an employee has any COVID-19 symptoms, or a close contact, they should stay home. If an employee develops symptoms while at work, they should return home and isolate until further guidance by a healthcare provider.

  • Employees can be tested:

    • Through their primary healthcare provider.

    • Contra Costa Health Services welcomes employees and their families to schedule COVID-19 testing at their sites located throughout the county. Appointments can be scheduled online using this link

Testing recommendations and guidelines continue to evolve and there will continue to be updates on plans around testing, especially as they relate to testing employees who are asymptomatic.
