Interim Campus Access Policy

Visiting Campus?

All visitors, guests, contractors, and vendors are asked to adhere to our Campus-Wide Health & Safety Protocol.

This interim policy is a mitigation strategy to lessen the risk to employees and students of exposure to contagions, including COVID-19. This interim policy is in addition to the existing policies found in the Student Handbook (Visitation and Guests; and Residence Hall Visitor Policy and Guidelines for Residential Students both found under Residential Living Policies) and the Employee Handbook (Section 2.10 - Friends, Family and Children 14 and under in the workplace).

Restricted Access to Campus
Access to the main Saint Mary’s College campus is restricted to essential students, faculty, staff and vendors. Non-essential visitors to campus are not permitted to enter campus.

Only the following groups are permitted to come to campus at this time:

  • Students who live in the residence halls.
  • Students who perform an on-campus job in a department-approved to provide essential, in-person services. Supervisor must notify covidcoordinator@stmarys-ca.edu about any students who will be working on-site.
  • Students who are picking up library books via curbside pickup.
  • Students who have scheduled in-person appointments with the Health and Wellness Center or Student Disability Services.
  • Student-athletes who live off-campus for the purposes of training, conditioning and practices.
  • Faculty and staff (and the family members from their household) who reside on campus.
  • Faculty, staff and approved/registered volunteers who are approved to perform essential services on-site at the college.
  • Guests of residents during move-in and move-out periods to assist their students (as approved by the Offices of Campus Housing and Residential Experience).
  • Guests/visitors of residents and/or residential live-in staff that are approved through the Office of Residential Experience.
  • Designated vendors and service operators with essential campus business.
  • Food delivery services for the purposes of delivery only. They are not permitted to exit their vehicles while on campus.
  • Prospective students and their families/supporters for drive-through campus tours. They are not permitted to exit their vehicles while on campus.
  • Faculty and staff coming for “grab and go” visits will simply need to sign-in at the Public Safety kiosk upon entry.

Deans and VPs have submitted the names, buildings and activities that require certain individuals to be on campus to perform essential, in-person services. This information will allow us to focus our operational resources to those locations in-use. This information helps Public Safety to manage campus access.

Students, Faculty and Staff must complete the Gaels Wellness Pledge and the Daily Health Screening prior to coming to campus.

Vendors, Service Operators and Parents/Family must submit the Visitors Wellness Pledge and the Daily Health Screening prior to coming to campus, unless alternative health screening protocols have been determined via contractional relationships.

Prospective Students and their Families/Supporters are encouraged to register their visit through the Admissions Office using the Drive-Through Campus Tour registration form.

All Visitors may not come to campus if they are deemed “At-Risk” via the Daily Health Screening, must comply with health habits (hand washing, sanitizing, etc), must maintain physical distancing of at least 6 feet, and wear facial coverings at all times on campus, except while eating/drinking or while in a private office with hard walls that reach the ceiling.

Rideshare drivers (Lyft/Uber, etc.) may not enter the campus, and their pickups and dropoffs will take place at the Rugby Parking Lot near the entrance to the Parkway off St. Mary’s Road. Signage will direct drivers to the pickup/dropoff location.

Requests for campus access should be submitted to Senior Leadership members in your area. Those approved for access will be added to Public Safety's campus access list.

*Residential students need to additionally review the "Residence Hall Visitor Policy for Residential Students" for further adherence to hall protocols. Please contact the Office of Residential Experience for questions: reslife@stmarys-ca.edu; (925) 631-4236.
