Important HR Notices - Please Review

Dear Saint Mary’s Employees,

Human Resources is sharing three notices that outline important workplace rights and protections available to you under California law.

The attached documents include important information about:

  • Your workplace rights, including protections from retaliation and interactions with law enforcement. (Know Your Rights Notice)
  • Leave and workplace accommodations for survivors of violence and affected family members. (Survivors Right to Time Off & FAQs)
  • The option to designate an emergency contact for notification in certain situations. (Emergency Contact Designation Notice & SMC Emergency Contact Designation FAQ)
    • Submission is optional; if an emergency contact is designated, the College may be required to notify that individual in limited circumstances, including if an employee is arrested or detained at the workplace or during the performance of their job duties.
    • Please note: you may have previously provided an emergency contact for medical or other emergency purposes; however, this designation is separate and in addition to existing records. The emergency contact identified through this process will be used specifically for compliance with California workplace safety requirements under California Senate Bill 553 (SB 553).

Please take a few moments to review the attachments for full details. If you have any questions, please contact Qiana London, Manager of Compliance and Training, Compliance Team at qll1@stmarys-ca.edu.
