Text Messaging (SMS) Terms of Service

These Text Messaging (SMS) Terms of Service (“SMS Terms”) govern participation in text message communications offered by Saint Mary’s College of California (“Saint Mary’s,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By opting in to receive text messages from Saint Mary’s, you agree to these SMS Terms.
Program Description
Saint Mary’s College of California may send text messages (SMS) to individuals who voluntarily opt in to receive such communications. Messages may include, but are not limited to:
- Admissions and enrollment information
- Academic program updates
- Event invitations and reminders
- Application status notifications
- Student services or administrative communications
- General College announcements relevant to your expressed interests
Messages are informational in nature and are sent only in connection with the purpose stated at the time of opt-in.
Eligibility
Participants must be at least 13 years of age, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to receive text messages from Saint Mary’s.
Opt-In Consent
By providing your mobile phone number and opting in, you expressly consent to receive text messages from Saint Mary’s College of California. Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of purchase, enrollment, or application.
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on your interaction with Saint Mary’s and the purpose for which you opted in. You may receive multiple messages per month depending on your engagement.
Opt-Out & Help Instructions
You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time.
- Reply STOP to opt out of further messages
- Reply HELP for help or additional information
After opting out, you may receive a final confirmation message. No further messages will be sent unless you re-opt in.
You are responsible for notifying Saint Mary’s if your mobile phone number changes or is reassigned. Messages sent to a reassigned number may be received by a new subscriber.
Message & Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply. Charges are determined by your mobile carrier and service plan. Saint Mary’s is not responsible for any charges incurred from receiving text messages.
Carrier Disclaimer
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery of messages is subject to effective transmission by your mobile carrier and is outside of Saint Mary’s control. Saint Mary’s does not guarantee the delivery or timeliness of text messages.
Supported Carriers
Our SMS program is intended to work with major U.S. wireless carriers; however, compatibility is not guaranteed on all carriers or devices. Text messaging services are intended for use with U.S. mobile numbers and may not be available on international carriers.
Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. SMS consent data, mobile numbers, and messaging preferences are used solely to support text message communications from Saint Mary’s and are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Program Changes or Termination
Saint Mary’s reserves the right to suspend or terminate its text messaging program, in whole or in part, at any time without prior notice.
Changes to These Terms
Saint Mary’s may modify these SMS Terms of Service at any time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued participation in the SMS program after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.
